Privacy Policy

Niyyah Nikah (“we”, “us”) helps single Muslims find a spouse. We take your privacy and modesty seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights under UK GDPR.
1. Information we collect
- Account data: name, email, password (hashed), gender.
- Profile data: age, location, bio, profession, education, ethnicity, languages, height, and photos you upload.
- Religious & lifestyle data (special category): sect, prayer frequency, religiosity, hijab/beard, halal diet, marriage intentions. We process this only with your explicit consent, given when you complete your profile.
- Guardian (Wali) data: name and email you provide for oversight.
- Usage data: likes, matches, messages, and technical logs.
- Payment data: handled by Stripe; we never store your card details.
2. How we use it
- To create your profile and suggest compatible matches.
- To enable messaging and (optional) wali oversight.
- To process membership payments via Stripe.
- To keep the platform safe (moderation, fraud and abuse prevention).
3. Photo privacy
By default your photos remain blurred to others until you match or approve a reveal. You control this setting at any time.
4. Sharing
We share data only with service providers needed to run Niyyah Nikah (e.g. Stripe for payments, our hosting provider). We never sell your data.
5. Your rights
- Access, correct, or export your data.
- Withdraw consent and delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account.
- Complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
6. Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, matches, and messages are permanently removed.
